The state police released numerous press releases stating that the University of Pittsburgh and other studies proved the guns were accurate, when the studies showed otherwise.

Marlin Mickle, an author of the University of Pittsburgh report, later told the Daily News that his report did not say the guns give accurate readings.

Mickle also stated the state police never told him about its own tests that identified the alternator as the problem or of the problems with the Motorola laptops.

And here we go again…Why do the Pennsylvania State Police continue to say the reports show the guns are accurate when the very people conducting the studies/tests state that they didn’t show they were accurate? Lies and deceit!

Judge Sylvia Rambo stated the following:

“The discovery materials the PSP (Pennsylvania State Police) has disclosed to plaintiff, if released to the media, threaten to prejudice the public from which jurors will be selected.”

Alright, so how is the public knowing the facts about the matter going to prejudice them if they are jurors? If anything, it makes them more educated jurors. The sad part is that the PSP continue to spew their own version of the story on their Web site. Is that not prejudicing the public?

State police at one time believed the radar guns were prone to malfunction only when plugged into the cigarette lighter of 2003 or 2004 Ford police cars. The Motorola report, though, says any Crown Victoria police car’s electrical system can be trouble, especially in cars with older batteries.

The report concludes that the array of police lights, radios, computers and other power equipment overloads the cars’ electrical system and introduces electrical noise, which interferes with the computers and radar guns.

So, as you can see, Motorola basically states that the Ford Crown Victoria’s used by the Pennsylvania State Police are just overloaded with electrical equipment that causes numerous problems, including introducing electrical noise which can cause interference and make the GHS radar guns produce false readings, but wait, the PSP continue to state that all of these studies prove, without a shadow of a doubt, that the guns are accurate. Why are these reports stating and showing the complete opposite?

Again, this gag order should have never been imposed to begin with. If anything it should be seen as retaliation to the Philadelphia Daily News, all the lawyers and other various news sources reporting on the problem.

Why the gag order if the Pennsylvania State Police have nothing to hide? They obviously had something to hide and internal memos show that.

Now if the GHS radar guns are so accurate, why would the Pennsylvania State Police request to have a gag order in the case to prevent newspaper reporters and lawyers from releasing documents to the public?

Simple answer: They don’t want the public to know the truth about the problems with their GHS radar guns. The Philadelphia Daily News was simply doing their job by reporting their findings and research to the public. Obviously the state police do not want the public to know about the problems when they are making $26 million a year on speeding tickets alone and all of the tickets that earned the money could be contested due to faulty equipment.

This gag order should have never been issued. The gag order was eventually lifted and Judge Sylvia Rambo recused herself from the case. I wonder why?

It further states how the University of Pittsburgh findings contradict with the findings of three previous studies and how Marlin Mickle states the study was never done to show the guns accuracy, even though the Pennsylvania State Police continue to state that it does show the guns are accurate.

Now I don’t condone drunk driving, but he did have a case if he was initially only pulled over for speeding. He hired a lawyer, Jason Jenkins, and subpoenaed John Timothy Shingara to testify. A ruling was not made at the time of the article.

The state inspector general put a report together on the alleged cover-up of the radar gun problems and gave it to Rendell in April 2004, however, this report has not been released to the public.

This article also discusses the Pennsylvania State Police and their various sex scandals and how they attempted to cover those up as well. This article also contains additional quotes from State Troopers claiming problems with GHS radar. Internal memos show that Cpl. William LaTorre wrote the following to a superior in an e-mail:

…pointed the gun at the road, the sky, trees and, finally, a moving car. The gun said all were going 78 mph. He used the gun properly, he said in an e-mail. “The problem is that if a member doesn’t catch the constant reading, he’ll think a vehicle…is actually traveling that speed,” wrote LaTorre, who was in the Avondale, Chester County barracks at the time. His e-mail went all the way to the head of the Bureau of Patrol.

So there is documentation from State Troopers themselves that state the reported problems with GHS radar, yet the Pennsylvania State Police continues to deny any problems. Why are troopers reporting these issues then…are they just making them up? I don’t think so!
