This article was published in the Philadelphia Daily News on September 14, 2005. It discusses how the Pennsylvania State Police were aware of the numerous problems that were causing false readings with the GHS radar guns, but never gave any of that, what would be, useful information to the University of Pittsburgh when they conducted their study.

The state police released numerous press releases stating that the University of Pittsburgh and other studies proved the guns were accurate, when the studies showed otherwise.

Marlin Mickle, an author of the University of Pittsburgh report, later told the Daily News that his report did not say the guns give accurate readings.

Mickle also stated the state police never told him about its own tests that identified the alternator as the problem or of the problems with the Motorola laptops.

And here we go again…Why do the Pennsylvania State Police continue to say the reports show the guns are accurate when the very people conducting the studies/tests state that they didn’t show they were accurate? Lies and deceit!

This article was posted on nj.com on January 15, 2005. This is a follow-up to the Josh Losito DUI and speeding case involving GHS radar.

To keep things short, the issue at hand was that GHS radar units were banned from use during from September 3, 2003 to December 14, 2003 in 2003 and newer models of Ford Crown Victoria’s and Josh Losito was clocked with a GHS radar gun on December 4, 2003 while the guns were banned from use.

The trooper that stopped Josh was driving a 2001 model Ford Crown Victoria, so the ban did not apply to him. A slight technicality, but it cost a win.

Frankly I think if there was a ban, it should have been a wide-spread ban regardless of the year of the vehicle because, as John Timothy Shingara stated, the problems occurred in Crown Victoria models of varying years.

This article was published on the Morning Call on December 11, 2004. This further discusses Josh Losito’s fight with GHS radar. He claims the radar units were banned at the time he was pulled over. He was pulled over on December 3, 2003 by a trooper in a 2001 Ford Crown Victoria. He retained a lawyer, Jason Jenkins of Souderton.

The ban was apparently only for 2003 and 2004 Ford Crown Victoria’s. Also contains additional John Timothy Shingara information and testimony.

Now I don’t condone drunk driving, but he did have a case if he was initially only pulled over for speeding. He hired a lawyer, Jason Jenkins, and subpoenaed John Timothy Shingara to testify. A ruling was not made at the time of the article.

This article was published by the Philadelphia Daily News on April 22, 2004. John Timothy Shingara faced various retaliatory actions after testifying and revealing the problems of Genesis Handheld Stationary (GHS) radar. Eventually he was suspended for 30 working days without pay and without benefits, which is the most severe punishment the Pennsylvania State Police will give someone before firing them.

This shows the types of actions the State Police have gone through in order to keep their GHS radar problem a secret. Testifying truthfully about the problem has cost Timothy Shingara his job. This is not something that should happen in America or anywhere in the world.

This was the first and original article reporting and describing the problems with Genesis Handheld Stationary (GHS) radar. It was published by the Philadelphia Daily News on March 9, 2004.

This article describes how the Pennsylvania State Police discovered there was a problem with their GHS radar units, were offered a FREE fix by the manufacturer (Decatur Electronics), declined the fix and continued to use the faulty guns to this day.

The article also touches on John Timothy Shingara’s testimony and his own knowledge of working with GHS radar. He even describes a similar problem with GHS radar giving false readings in 1999, which the Pennsylvania State Police and manufacturer fixed by installing better filters without the publics knowledge.

This article also has some nice pictures showing how false readings may occur.

This press release from the Pennsylvania State Police was their response after the University of Pittsburgh evaluation of the Genesis Handheld Stationary (GHS) radar unit. In short, the Pennsylvania State Police state the study proved the radar units are accurate.

Marlin Mickle, the professor and an author of the University of Pittsburgh report, stated that his report did not say the guns gave accurate readings, only that the tests he conducted did not show the alternator was causing phantom speed readings. Mickle also stated that the Pennsylvania State Police never told him about its own tests that identified the alternator as the problem or of the problems with the Motorola laptops.

How the Pennsylvania State Police twist the results into their own liking when the obvious results are right in the report and the professor conducting the report states himself that the tests didn’t prove any accuracy is beyond my knowledge. Read the report yourself and see the truth and the problems. The Pennsylvania State Police released this press release in a further attempt to discredit John Timothy Shingara and the real problems with the Genesis Handheld Stationary (GHS) radar guns.

Brent Hanlin in which John Timothy Shingara, who at the time was working in the Technical Support Division of the Pennsylvania State Police performing various radar and electronics duties, blew the whistle and let the public know the truth about Genesis Handheld Stationary (GHS) radar and its’ problems.
